Why I left the corporate sector and hung out my shingle
Ahoy! Many of you have asked why Lorne would leave the safety and security of the corporate sector and go out on his own.
Let’s take a trip back to Lorne’s high school graduation: a time when his deepest desire was to become a professional boxer. https://youtu.be/LzVSZr1obxI
That urge lasted five minutes. He instead entered the U.S. Navy, known for making men out of disillusioned boys. The Navy urge lasted 20 years; Lorne served honorably 1979-1999, completing six tours of duty spanning 13 years at sea. By the age of 28, he became a Chief Petty Officer, the only E7 rank in the military commissioned by Congress. A true adventurer, he was known for his avid interest in repairing masts aboard ships pitching in the sea. Having grown up in a police and fire-fighting family, he knew the adventures of forensic fire investigation was a natural career.
After 12 years working for corporate fire investigation firms, the adventurer in him won out again and he founded Fire-pi in fall, 2019. As with many other veterans, he is an entrepreneur at heart.
He is excited to offer his own terms to his clients, unencumbered by corporate policy and bureaucracy. He founded Fire-pi based on the belief that a fire investigator should be readily accessible and on the scene within 72 hours of contact.
What sets Fire-pi apart? Fire-pi is veteran-owned and locally based, positioned for rapid response, always within 72 hours. Lorne is a truth seeker and a fact finder; no corners are cut in getting accurate answers for you and your client. You will get a prompt reply and quick scheduling.
Lorne holds a master’s degree in forensics, with additional post-grad work in fire science and law. His USN training and experience uniquely assure you of thorough, complete, timely results.
